Elise Poillot is full professor of civil law at the University of Luxembourg. She started her academic career at the Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3 (France), where she was the vice-director of the Institut de Droit Comparé Édouard Lambert. Given her strong interest in European and comparative law, she joined the University of Luxembourg as a full professor in civil law, where she also serves as Study Programme Director of the Master in European Business Law.

She has built a career around various facets of legal studies. While many lawyers provided a foundation for theoretical explorations, her professional involvement in academic contexts at an international and European level has taught her to put law in perspective with the social, cultural, linguistic, technological and economic environment.

In 2014, she opened a Consumer Law Clinic where she implemented interdisciplinarity in both teaching and research. She also serves as a member of the Administrative Board of the European Network for Clinical Legal Education (ENCLE), contributing to the development and dissemination of clinical legal education standards across Europe. In the ever-evolving landscape of consumer education within the realm of law, she is proud to be recognized as one of the pioneers in this field. Her scholarly work has been widely acknowledged: she is recognized as a leading scholar in national, European, and comparative consumer law, having authored book chapters and leading articles, especially in the field of consumer education.

She has also been entrusted with several high-level academic responsibilities at the European level. She was appointed by the Italian Ministry of Higher Education as a member of the national committee responsible for the academic qualification of candidates applying for professorships in law. She further served as an evaluator of teaching and research programmes in the French-speaking part of Belgium.

Her commitment to the academic community also extends to doctoral research: she has supervised several PhD theses in consumer law, many of which were published and significantly contributed to the doctrinal development of the field.
